The truth is that these entities are pooling the total overall experience of every surgeon in their network to make that claim, and the statement is simply false when it applies to the actual surgeon performing YOUR procedure.
That being said, there is most definitely a requirement that you should choose your LAISK surgeon based on the amount of experience he or she specifically has in performing LASIK. There is a ‘learning curve’ that needs to be factored in, and realistically, you want to look for a surgeon who performs a consistent amount of procedures every month, with a successful track record, as this ensures consistent outcomes.
