How LASIK Custom Vision Corrects Your Vision

You may be wondering how LASIK Custom Vision does indeed correct your vision, and if you are a candidate for LASIK Custom Vision.

Here’s the facts: LASIK Custom Vision surgery can improve and correct three common vision conditions:

  • Astigmatism (an irregular curvature of the cornea),
  • myopia (nearsightedness) and
  • hyperopia (farsightedness).

In each of these refractive errors, light entering the eye fails to focus properly on the retina, resulting in blurry vision. Your LASIK Custom Vision treatment can easily correct these visual errors, leaving you with a guarantee of optimal visual results, and an eliminated dependency on glasses and contacts.

Offering outcomes that exceed any other traditional LASIK procedure, LASIK Custom Vision, performed by the Bay Area’s renowned Dr. George Simon, delivers a revolutionary all-laser, all-computer, customized treatment plan. Simon 2020 Vision Center provides this exclusive solution to restore visual ability and reshape the cornea, leaving you, the patient, free of glasses and contact lenses for good.

LASIK Custom Vision Is A Three-Step Process

Step 1.

Utilizing a new state of the art laser called the IntraLase FS, Dr. Simon will begin your surgery by creating a tiny, hinged flap on the surface of your cornea, giving him access to the inner eye. Rather than using a surgical blade to create the flap, the IntraLase FS allows a cool laser light to pass completely through the corneal surface without the risk of damaging any additional tissue and greatly reducing the risk of infection or complication. The computer-guided laser will create a uniform flap, which is smooth and shaped to Dr. Simon’s custom specifications.

Step 2.

Once the custom flap is created, Dr. Simon will lift the flap to perform the actual visual correction procedure. Using a state of the art FDA-approved scanning excimer laser (either the Visx Star S4 or the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q), Dr. Simon will use the laser to lay down the treatment. Once the cornea is reshaped in just the right way, light entering the eye will properly focus on the retina, thus delivering crystal clear vision.

Step 3.

After the cornea is reshaped exactly to Dr. Simon’s specifications, he will lay the flap back in place to cover the corneal area that was reshaped.  This flap bonds in place almost immediately, and recovery is minimal.  Most patient can drive themselves to their post-op appointment the very next day… without glasses or contacts!

Every Eye is Different

While your best possible vision is a function of the laser technology utilized in your Lasik procedure, it’s the diagnosis and treatment plan developed from the LASIK surgeon that makes the difference.  Dr. Simon’s vast experience in performing over 75,000 procedures enables him to customize the treatment settings to your unique vision and your specific visual needs and desires, ultimately giving you the result that would make you happiest.
